I created Amate.Casa as a place to share my stories with you. My first creation, Mito, begins as a grandmother’s bedtime story to her grandchildren. Through the tale, she introduces them to Duendes, mythical creatures brought to the Americas by Europeans.
The name “Amate” means “love yourself” in Spanish; a message at the heart of everything I create. It also honors amate paper, a traditional Mayan medium for crafting codices (books), most of which were tragically lost to history.
